Dim wins Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E

The World Series of Poker really affected this week’s version of Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E. With the $2,500 Mixed Event going on at the Rio, only 146 players turned out for this event. Only two Full Tilt Poker red pros, Alan Boston and Martin Klaeser, turned out for the event, and neither made the money.

Cardsharps_Net, Shaun Deeb aka “tedsfishfry”, and defending champion horryclutch rounded out the notables in the field. Deeb would come closest to cashing, as he finished as this event’s bubble boy. DaMortician and Santanico both made the money with Santanico joining those at the final table.

Dim says “Glad it’s you. Good players, deserving of a 2nd place finish” at the beginning of heads-up play. That may have been his way of saying “I apologize in advance for the beats you are about to take.” Marginreturns started out with a huge lead and then Dim went on a huge rush. Regardless of what marginreturns had, Dim finshed better. If marginreturns started with a pair, Dim would catch a straight with junk. One big hand saw kings vs. aces with marginreturns holding the kings. During Omaha, marginreturns was able to even things back up but Dim went on another rush of cards during Omaha. He would state after the game that he owned marginreturns in Omaha, but the final hand was indicative of how well Dim was catching during heads-up play.

The final hand saw marginreturns flop top two pair against against a gutshot and a pair of queens. The turn gave Dim his straight and the river filled out a flush for Dim and Dim became the champion.

Dim came into the final table as the short stack and started asking players who would double him up. He received a couple of double ups at the right time to stay and in contention and then caught cards when it counted to take down the title. Dim won $9,000 and bragging rights until next week, and trust me, he will likely brag next week.

Next Sunday is the $1,500 Stud 8 or Better at the WSOP, so expect attendance to be somewhat light for next weekend as well. However, we will be here to bring you all the action. See you then!
