15poWer wins Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E
With the Main Event of the World Series of Poker marching down to the final table, numbers for Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E. saw a healthy jump this week. 185 players turned out with their $216 buy-in looking to take the tournament and the $10,175 top prize.
Full Tilt Poker had a respectable number of red pros turn out for the event. Chip and Karina Jett, Kristy Gazes, Michael Craig, Thomas Bihl, Scott Fischman, and Stuart Paterson all were in attendance. John Cernuto has bounced back nicely from his recent collapse and hospitalization during the WSOP and was also on the virtual felt.
Other notables in the field were, Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire, Cardsharps_Net, Dim, INTERCEPTOR, Shaun “tedsfishfry” Deeb, and SNACKERS. 24 players made the money in this event with Ergodicity finishing as this event’s bubble boy. Michael Craig was the only Full Tilt red pro to finish in the money and headlined the final table.
These were the final 8 players:
Djcoin
Michael Craig
QfeartheQ
15poWer
luckyfish1957
GioTheJammer
Tagtaggert
Traction
Connection issues caused this reporter to miss the start of the final table but djcoin was the first to hit the rail in 8th place. With seven players left, 15poWer held a commanding chip lead of 252,234 with QfeartheQ being the next closest player with 85,827.
Luckyfish1937 was all-in on 6th street against Michael Craig with nines and fours and behind to Craig’s nines and sevens. Luckyfish1937 was unable to fill up and finished in 7th place.
GioTheJammer was all-in with A-Q-9 on 3rd during Stud 8 against the A-Q-8 of 15poWer. By the river, GioTheJammer had nines-up but they were not good enough to take down the queen high straight of 15poWer. GioTheJammer finished in 6th place.
Tagtaggart was all in on fourth during Stud 8 with a pair of nines against the pair of eights of 15poWer. By the river, tagtaggart held nines-up and 15poWer rivered trip eights to send tagtaggart out in 5th place.
QfeartheQ was all-in on fourth street during Stud 8 and called by both Michael Craig and 15poWer. Craig bet out 7th and 15poWer got out of the way. Craig started with rolled-up jacks and that’s what he finished with. QfeartheQ mucked and was eliminated in 4th place.
At the break, this is how the final three stood in chips:
15poWer 307,508
traction 127,547
Michael Craig 119,945
Michael Craig was put the last of his chips in at the river calling a bet from traction on a board of 9-Q-7-5-K. Traction showed K-J for top pair and Craig mucked. Michael Craig finished the day in 3rd place.
Heading into heads-up play, 15poWer held over a 2 to 1 chip lead over traction. He extended his chip stack over 400k after taking a 96k pot from traction.
He then took a 128,000 pot after flopping top pair with K-J.
15poWer grinded traction down to just 23,492 before traction decided to put the last of his chips in with Ac-8h. 15poWer had Qd-Js and made the call. 15poWer flopped an open ended straight draw but was still behind traction’s ace high. The turn missed both players, but the river 8c gave 15poWer the straight and the victory.
Many of you may think that this recap was a bit brief, but in reality, the play was really that quick. 15poWer came into the final table with the chip lead and just continually pounded the table while catching hands. By the time play was three handed, he had a nearly insurmountable chip lead. He then ran like Ivey heads-up and sealed the deal. 15poWer is this week’s winner of Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E. He takes home $10,175 and bragging rights until next weekend. Of course, we will be back as well with another edition of Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E.
