clubpop1 wins Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E.
The November 15th edition of Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E. drew 155 players for a prize pool of $31,000. $9,300 was scheduled to go to first with 16 players making the money. Among those at the tables for this event were Full Tilt pros Cyndy Violette, Chip Jett, Thomas Bihl, Jon Turner, and Karina Jett. Others in the field included defending champion POCKET FIVE, TurnRiva, Micon, and ROTTING SNAPPER. POCKET FIVE made a deep run, but fell just short of the money, finishing in 24th place.
The final table for this event was headlined by two Full Tilt Poker red pros and a former Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E. champion. WSOP-E HORSE bracelet winner Thomas Bihl and fellow red pro member Jon Turner both made the final table, with Bihl taking the chip lead into the final. Former champion dfunks222 also made the final table to make this one of the stronger final tables in recent weeks.

This is how the final eight started play:
Thomas Bihl 161,839
clubpop1 26,158
Jon Turner 38,976
lacylily 39,158
givemethekeys 20,244
Fral03 89,774
dfunks222 60,713
2the916k 22,538
2the916k was our first player eliminated from the final table. Down to his last 1,163 during Stud, he was all-in on third after calling a completion from dfunks222. Clubpop1 called along but folded on fourth to a bet from dfunks222. Dfunks had split jacks and 2th916k had a pair of sevens and a three flush. That is as far as either player got and 2the916k headed out in 8th place.

Lacylily was the next player out. Givemethekeys straight completed with the low card on third during Stud 8 and Lacylily went all-in for 6,934 total. Both Fral03 and givemethekeys made the call. By fifth, givemethekeys was also all-in with buried kings. Fral03 held four cards to a seven low. Lacylily held a pair of nines only. Lacylily improved to nines-up on sixth street and Fral03 made an eight low. The river brought kings-up for givemethekeys, a seven low for Fral03, and lacylily failed to improve. Lacylily finished in 7th place.

Givemethekeys was all-in during stud 8 on fourth with buried tens and ahead of the buried nines and three flush of clubpop1. Givemethekeys improved to tens-up on fifth but clubpop1 caught running queens on sixth and seventh to make two pair and send givemethekeys home in 6th.

Action pre-flop was capped between Jon Turner and clubpop1. On a flop of 7c-4d-Qh, Turner got his last 1,104 into the pot with pocket fives. He found himself far behind the pocket jacks of clubpop1. A five failed to hit the turn or river and Full Tilt pro Jon Turner finished in 5th.

Dfunks222 took a horrible suckout chop four handed that very well prevented a momentum shift in his favor. Action was three bet pre-flop and on a flop of Js-8h-8d, dfunks222 bet out 8,000, only to have clubpop1 raise to 16,000 and put dfunks222 all-in. He snap-called, showing Ac-Jh for two pair. Clubpop1 held As-6s for only a backdoor flush draw. The turn fell another eight, giving dfunks222 a full house and a virtual lock on a double up to over 93,000. Clubpop had three outs for a chop, meaning he need one of two aces or the case eight. The river fell the case eight to chop the pop.
Three hands later, the same two players were at it again. This time, Dfunks222 got his stack in on a flop of Ah-3h-Qd. Clubpop1 made the call and held the lead with Ad-6s. Dfunks222 held As-4c and needed help. The turn fell the 8d, helping neither player. Dfunks222 needed a four or a card higher than six. The river fell the 5h, and clubpop1’s six played. Dfunks222 finished in 4th place.

Thomas Bihl got grinded down to 36,393 during three-handed play and got most of his stack in pre-flop during Omaha. On a flop of 8c-4c-4s, Bihl put the rest in with Fral03 calling and clubpop1 raising. Fral03 called the bet and then another bet from clubpop1 on the turn of the 10s. The river fell the As and clubpop1 bet again, this time prompting Fral03 to fold. Clubpop1 showed Qd-6c-5s-4d for trip fours and an eight-low. Bihl mucked his hand and headed out in 3rd place.
Heads-up play was a lopsided affair between Fral03 and clubpop01. Clubpop01 held over a 11 to 1 chip lead with 426,302 to 38,698. Play lasted three-hands before Fral03 decided to put his chips at risk with Ks-Jd-10c-2s. Clubpop1 held 7h-5h-5d-3d. The flop left Fral03 drawing dead as it fell 4h-3h-6c to give clubpop1 a seven-high straight. The turn and river were irrelevant and clubpop1 is this week’s Sunday Night HORSE champion.
Heading into this final table, clubpop1 was the third shortest stack, much like Phil Ivey was at the WSOP Main Event final table. The difference was that clubpop1 was able to make a stellar comeback to build an insurmountable chip lead three-handed. He played well and deserved the victory. He received $9,300 and bragging rights until next week.
