Mike Leah aka GoLeafsGoEh wins SUNDAY NIGHT H.O.R.S.E.
The November 22nd edition of Sunday Night HORSE saw 141 players turn out for the weekly HORSE event, creating a slight overlay. $9,000 was the amount scheduled to be awarded to first place with 16 players making the money.
This week has a small turnout by the Full Tilt Poker red pros. Cyndy Violette made the deepest run, but fell short of the money, finishing in 31st place. Others making a deep run in the event included Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah, former champion digablemars, tennisklause and last week’s runner-up Fral03.
The final table was headlined by pro Mike Leah. Fral03 also made the final, looking to try and win it all this time. These were the final eight players:
Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah
ClarkAS
fans4mizzou
Crisp86
Fral03
papabear220
Rosicrucian
Rosicrucian was the first player eliminated from the final table, followed by papabear220 in 7th, tennisklause in 6th, and fan4mizzou in 5th. Heading into four-handed action, Fral03 was in the chip lead with 209k. The next closest opponent was Mike Leah with around 118k.
ClarkAS was all-in by fifth street during a stud 8 round. Mike Leah made the call with a pair of tens and ClarkAS held 4-6-7-8-10 for a big two way draw. Unfortunately, ClarkAS caught face cards on both sixth and seventh, and Leah’s 10’s were good enough to send ClarkAS out in 4th.
Crisp86 was the short stack with just 50,612 at this point. All those chips were in the middle by sixth street during stud 8. He held a pair of fours with a seven low draw against a pair of kings and flush draw of Mike Leah. The river missed Crisp86 and Leah improved to trip kings. Crisp86 finished in 3rd and we were heads-up.
For the 2nd week in a row, Fral03 made heads-up of this event, but Mike Leah was the chip leader. Mike Leah entered heads-up play with a chip lead of 240,762 against the 182,238 of Fral03. Play went back and forth for a bit but the tide shifted in two big hands during limit holdem. First, a classic aces vs. kings showdown went down between the two. All streets were bet with the turn three bet. At the river, Leah showed a pair of aces to take down a sizable pot. He then crippled Fral03 two hands later. Fral3 chased a flush draw and Leah aggressively bet a flopped two pair. By the river, Leah had made a full house and Fral03 was down to just 10,238 in chips.

Fral03 was able to work his way up to around 28k, but that is as high as he got. The final hand between the two occurred ruing Omaha with Fral03 moving in with 10h-4h-2c-3c and Leah calling with Qc-10s-6c-6d. A flop of 7s-Qs-5h gave Leah a pair and Fral03 multiple draws. The turn Jh missed Leah but gave more outs to Fral03. The river fell the Qd, giving Leah a set of queens and the victory. For the 2nd week in a row, Fral03 finishes in 2nd place, taking home $6,000.
Mike Leah aka “GoLeafsGoEh” is this week’s champion. He played a fantastic game and ran well heads-up to take down the title and $9,000. This may not have been near the large scores Leah has made in the past, but a win is still a win. Congratulations to Mike Leah, Sunday Night HORSE Champion.
