BrandonPL wins Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E.
With many players and pros at the PCA in the Bahamas, Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E. on January 10th drew a paltry 113 players. For those that showed up, they were treated with a $7,300 overlay and the top prize was $9,000.
Cyndi Violette was among the five Full Tilt Poker red pros that showed up but none made the money. Sixteen players made the money and BrandonPL entered the final table as the chip leader. This is how the final 8 players started the final table:
Samuel Berg 26,629
BrandonPL 69,746
CompleteDonk 23,952
Dr_Bump 35,950
Tapp that Ace 51,479
Kwob29 35,306
Dainiux 50,181
TurnRiva 45,757

CompleteDonk was the first knocked out. After three-betting pre-flop, the rest of his chips went into the pot on the turn with the board reading Kd-Qs-Qd-3d. TurnRiva made the call and showed Ac-Kd for top two pair. CompleteDonk showed Ah-4s for complete air. The river was a blank and CompleteDonk was eliminated.
Dr_Bump was all-in during Omaha 8 for his last 2,900 pre-flop. Samuel Berg and BrandonPL played out the pot to the river. At the river, Berg held the low and BrandonPL a straight. Dr_Bump couldn’t beat either hand and was bumped off of the final table.
Kwob20 was the next to fall during razz. He put the last of his chips in on fourth street with a draw to a jack and was behind to TurnRiva, who was drawing to the wheel. Fifth gave Kwob20 a jack low, but TurnRiva caught an eight for an eight low. Kwob20 could only redraw to a nine at best and was drawing dead.
Tapp that Ace was eliminated a bit later during razz. He had the last of his chip in on fifth and was called by both TurnRiva and Dainiux. TurnRiva bet out Dainiux on sixth and revealed a six low. Tapp that Ace held a jack and was drawing dead, eliminated in 5th place.
Dainiux was knocked out during the stud high round. BrandonPL three-bet on third and Dainiux called. BrandonPL bet out on fourth and fifth, but on sixth, BrandonPL checked to Dainiux when he caught a pair.

Dainiux bet out and was called. At the river, BrandonPL check-raised Dainiux to put him all-in. Dainiux called and then mucked when BrandonPL showed broadway. Dainiux finished in 4th.

Samuel Berg got a little too frisky during Holdem and it cost him his tournament life. He raised pre-flop and then called a three-bet from BrandonPL. Berg called a bet on a flop of 4h-3h-Ac and then called a bet on the turn 3c that put him all-in. BrandonPL held Ad-7h for top pair and Berg held Qc-Jc for a flush draw. The river fell the 8d and we were heads-up.
A deal was briefly discussed between the two players, but with TurnRiva holding only 49,748 in chips against the 289,252 of BrandonPL, he only would gain $400 by taking the deal. He asked if BrandonPL would give him an extra $1,000 to walk and was politely declined.

Heads-up play only lasted one hand past the deal discussion. Action was capped pre-flop and then on a flop of Qc-7d-2d, TurnRiva raised all-in with Js-7s. He was ahead of the Ac-Jh of BrandonPL. The turn fell the 3d, missing both players, but the river fell the As to give BrandonPL a pair of aces and the title.
BrandonPL finished the final table the way he started, as the chip leader. He took home the $9,000 top prize and bragging rights for the week. Congratulations.
