8-SnipeR-8 wins SUNDAY NIGHT HORSE
The February 21st edition of Sunday Night HORSE saw something we haven’t seen in months. The event actually made its guarantee. 161 players showed up for the event, making a total prize pool of $32,200. Also, three tables were paid instead of the customary two. This had a slight affect on the top prize as the top prize only walked away with $8,855.
A decent crop of Full Tilt Poker red pros showed up this week, but none cashed. The closest to cashing was Stuart Paterson, who bubbled in 25th place. The Prescott and DaMortician were the notable players that made the money, but failed to make the final table. Only one of our final eight had made the final in this event in the past. Chsburgereddy hasn’t been to the final in quite a while, but he was among those at this final table. xxxx headed into the final table as chip leader. Here were how the final eight players started final table play.
Scary285 77,468
8-SnipeR-8 31,340
raok97 121,773
davidmfio 72,853
icanhazchipz 13,796
chsburgereddy 69,518
Stokkulfen 60,059
JUMP PUTT 36,193
Icanhazchipz started the final as the short stack and was soon all-in on third street with K-J-3. JUMP PUTT made the call with buried jacks. Icanhazchipz could only muster a pair of ducks and as a result departed to go “haz cheezeburger” in 8th.

Stokkulfen was down to his last 26,448 during Stud eight or better. After raising davidmifo’s completion on third, Stokkulfen led out on fourth with a 9-2 board. Davidmifo raised with 8-5 of clubs and Stokkulfen moved all-in with a K-J in the hole. Davidmifo showed 6-7 n the hole for an open ended draw. He then proceeded to catch a pair on fifth, a straight to the eight on sixth, and then trip eights on the river. Stokkulfen could only muster jacks-up, and hit the rail in 7th.
A few hands later, Scary285 went to war for his last 26k. By fifth, he was all-in and rack97 called. Scary285 had a pair of queens and rack97 held an 8-7 low with a draw to an eight straight. Sixth street gave rack97 the straight and improved his hand to a seven low. Scary285 caught two pair, but could not fill up on the river. As a result, Scary285 was out in 6th.
JUMP PUTT continued the trend of bustouts during Stud 8. He was all-in on fifth with a four flush only. Raok97 called with four to a 8-7 low. He also had three of JUMP PUTT’s flush outs. Sixth gave raok97 a low and he was amazingly still in the lead for high with ace-high. JUMP PUTT was unable to catch his flush, a pair, or even an ace to take half the pot, and as a result hit the bricks in 5th.
The game finally switched to Limit Holdem and raok97 put most of his stack in pre-flop when he capped the betting. Davidmfio and chsburgereddy both called. The flop fell Kd-Qh-Jd and davidmfio bet out. Chsburgereddy raised and raok97 was all-in for less than one bet. Davidmfio got out of the way and we were off to the races. Raok97 had K-Q for a flopped two pair but chsburgereddy turned over As-10d for a flopped straight. The turn and river both fell babies and we were down to three.
Chsburgereddy never got a lot going at this final table but managed to make it to the final three. With just 35,062 left, he called three bets pre-flop with 8-7 suited. The flop fell Ac-8d-7d to give chsburgereddy two pair. He check-raised 8-SnipeR-8 to go all-in. 8-SnipeR-8 held just Kh-Qd and needed running cards to win. The turn fell the Kd to leave him with 15 total outs. The river then fell the 3d to give 8-SnipeR-8 a runner-runner flush and we were heads-up.
Heading into heads-up play, 8-SnipeR-8 had a massive 393,022 to 89,978 lead over davidmfio. Heads-up play lasted three hands. The final hand saw two bets pre-flop and on the flop. On the turn, action was capped with the board showing 2c-Qs-5d-5c. Davidmfio was left with just 13,978 and put it in on the river 10c. 8-SnipeR-8 made the call. Davidmfio showed Q-J for two pair but 8-SnipeR-8 showed K-5 for trip fives and the win.
8-SnipeR-8 entered the final table as one of the short stacks and hung tough early. He then turned on the afterburners with about four players left to take a massive lead that was never in danger. He took home $8,855 and bragging rights until next week. As always, we will be back to bring you all the action.
