KentyKent wins Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E.
The March 15th edition of Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E. drew a crowd of 145 players looking to take down this weekly mixed event. The event just fell short of its guarantee, so first place was the default $9,000 with 16 players paid.
The good players rose to the top of this event. From 20th up, the list of finishers were almost all former final tablist of this event, or former WSOP bracelet winners. 20th through 17th went down in this order; Dr_Bump, dfunks222, kice32, and SNACKERS was the unfortunate bubble girl of this event. Sngkid squeaked into the money in 16th with icanhazchips in 15th. WSOP HORSE bracelet winner Jens Voertmann finished in 12th. WSOP bracelet winner and Full Tilt Poker pro Cyndy Violette finished 10th.
15 AGOSTO appeared to be destined to bubble the final table with just 3k in chips at the start of Holdem. However, but the middle of Omaha he had worked his way back up to 50,000 in chips. Teambass wound up being the unfortunate 9th place finisher. Lord Bolt entered the final table as the chip leader. This is how the final eight players started final table action:
goldfishman7 10,136
KentyKent 52,318
TYGOP 44,295
15 AGOSTO 40,095
Lord Bolt 90,756
BrandonPL 59,556
elanor 70,135
pokerlogic1 67,709
Goldfishman7 was down to his last 5,636 and went to war with it during Razz. After completing all-in on third, both Lord Bolt and elanor made the call. Lord Bolt bet elanor out of the pot after she caught a queen on fourth. Lord Bolt had 7-6-4-A against the K-8-3-A of goldfishman7. By fifth, Lord Bolt caught a seven low, and goldfishman7 was drawing dead with a draw to a nine. Goldfishman7 finished the day in 8th.
BrandonPL was down to 18k during Stud. He capped the pot with KentyKent on third and was all-in. He held split queens to KentyKent’s buried kings. Neither player improved their hand and BrandonPL went out in 7th.
Later in the Stud round, TYGOP raised on fifth street with Jh-4h-7s showing to put all but his last 8,600 chips into the pot. On sixth, 15 AGOSTO caught a pair of open kings and put TYGOP all-in. TYGOP called and showed an open ended straight draw and a flush draw. Any three, eight, or heart would win the pot. The river fell the 9d, and TYGOP was our 6th place finisher.
Pokerlogic1 was all in on fifth street of Stud 8 with a four flush and and open ended straight draw. He faced elanor who had a pair of threes only. Sixth street gave pokerlogic1 a low draw as well, but a queen on the river failed to give him either half of the pot. Elanor caught kings up on the river to send pokerlogic1 out in 5th place.
The action was three bet pre-flop of Holdem between 15 AGOSTO and elanor. On a flop of Ac-6d-3d, elanor bet, and 15 AGOSTO raised. Elanor tanked for a bit as she realized that if she called, she would have to go all-in on the turn. She decided to three-bet and 15 AGOSTO capped to put elanor all-in. She called and showed pocket nines. 15 AGOSTO showed A-10 for top pair. A nine failed to hit the board and we were down to three.
Action was raised both pre-flop and on the flop between 15 AGOSTO and Lord Bolt. On the turn, the board read 8c-Ks-2d-Ad and Lord Bolt moved all-in for his last 8k. 15 AGOSTO called and turned over Kc-7h for a pair. Lord Bolt showed Qd-10d for a flush draw and gut shot broadway draw. The river fell the 3h and Lord Bolt finished in 3rd.
Heads-up play was almost even at the start. KentyKent held 218,232 to the 216,768 of 15 AGOSOT. The two decided to chop up the prize money 7k per person and play for the last 1k. Heads-up play lasted long than the entire final table to that point. It took 94 hands to get to heads-up and then another 172 hands to determine the winner. With the bets at 20k and 40k during Stud 8, 15 AGOSTO went to war with a 9-7-6. By the time he was all-in on sixth, he had a pair of sixes, gut shot straight draw and a seven low draw. KentyKent held a pair of king only. On the river, 15 AGOSTO caught a seven to give him sevens-up, but KentyKent caught a pair of threes to give him kings-up, and KentyKent is our champion.
KentyKent is the champion for this week’s edition of Sunday Night HORSE. After the deal, he took home $8,000 in prize money. Congratulations.
