Jrice110280 wins Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E.
Sunday nights are for HORSEing about. Such was the case for the April 18th edition of Sunday Night HORSE. 148 players made for a small overlay, making the prize pool the typical $30,000 with $9,000 going to first place. Cyndy Violette led the charge of the red pros on the virtual felt, but it was Aaron Bartley that emerged as the long red pro to finish in the money.
As we got down to the money bubble, several names were still in contention. Brandon “BrandonPL” Leeds and Pokerfan X both finished just shy of the money. TorontoToro wound up as our bubble boy. Former final tablist LunisticTweak just squeaked into the money with a 16th place finish. The final table was headlined by Full Tilt red pro and chip leader Aaron Bartley, former champion SNACKERS, and Ari “I Am Ari” Engel. This is how the final eight players started play:
SNACKERS 13.986
I Am Ari 32,857
Aaron Bartley 98,678
jrice110280 73,964
Teambass 88,037
loose_cannon_jj 78,586
diazepamR 28,785
Lariemd2004 29,107
Former champion SNACKERS was the first player to be eliminated. With just 5k left she moved all-in on third street during a stud hand with split deuces. Loose_cannon_jj called with split sevens. Neither player improved and SNACKERS was out in 8th.
Two hands later, Ari Engel moved all-in on third with his last 3,172 and was called in two spots. Teambass bet out the third player on third and revealed a pair of deuces and three spades. Engel just had ace high. Teambass then proceeded to catch spades for each of his remaining cards. Engel had a straight, but a straight does not beat a flush. Ari Engel finished in 7th.
A few hands later, Lauriemd2004 decided to put the rest of her chips into the pot with K-J-10 of diamonds and Aaron Bartley decided to take a flyer with buried sevens. Lauriemd2004 only improved to a pair of sixes and hit the brick in 6th place.
Aaron Bartley made one of the weirdest plays to basically give jrice110280 the chip lead. Jrice11020 was all-in on sixth street with four spades showing. Loose_cannon_jj was showing aces with a 10-Q on board. Bartley then raised to force loose_cannon_jj to fold. Bartley then revealed trip threes with no low draw. Jrice11020 had a made flush and a low draw. He didn’t need the low draw but he caught it on the river. After the hand, jrice110280 held the chip lead.
Teambass had a final table under his belt in an earlier performance and he did one spot better this time around. He was all-in on the flop during Holdem with a gutshot straight draw against jrice110280. Jrice110280 had flopped top pair. Teambass’ straight never got there and we were down to four players.
Aaron Bartley was never able to recover from that hand with jrice110280. He was finally all-in during Holdem with J-3 of diamond against the J-9 of jrice110280. Four spades on the board gave jrice110280 a flush and Aaron Bartley is probably left wondering if he should have raised in that earlier hand.
Loose_cannon_jj really liked A-5 suited. He decided to put his entire 46k stack at risk. DiazepamR called the all-in bet after the flop with pocket sevens and found himself ahead. Loose_cannon_jj lived up to his name and got himself busted in 3rd place.
Heading into heads-up play, jrice110280 held a 236,106 to 207,984 chip lead. The two tried to make a deal but diazepamR had trouble with the deal screen and cancelled the deal. He then got involved in a pot with jrice110280 and lost 40k of his stack. While not a huge amount of chips, it did make a difference in the next attempt at a deal. I don’t think that diazepamR cared as he accepted the deal as soon as he was able to figure out how to submit. As a result of the deal jrice110280 received $7,946.66 and diazepamR $7,053.34. Just to tell you how much of a difference those 40k in chips made, diazepamR would have gotten over $7,400 the first time around had the deal not been cancelled.
Jrice110280 is this week’s winner of Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E.. After receiving the chip lead as a gift from Aaron Bartley, he held onto the lead and eventually the title. Congratulations.
