Dboy23 wins his first Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E.
The December 12th edition of Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E. just fell shy of its guarantee with 147 players. As usual, 16 players were paid, and first took home $9,000. Several red pros played in this event, but none cashed. Lacey Jones and John Cernuto were the high pros of the event. Jones finished in 22nd and Cernuto in 20th.
Former champion o Shakespear o was the bubbly boy for the event. Among those in the money but falling short of the final table were neversleeping in 14th, kwob20 in 12th, and elanor in 9th. Dsindy made yet another final table in this event and is still looking for his first win in Sunday Night HORSE. He started the final table as the chip leader. Others making a return appearance to the final table were Muckyourface, dfunks222, and dboy23. Here is how the final eight players started final table play:
DRSICK 24,952
Demetrius 90,021
Muckyourface 20,120
Dboy23 52,053
Patwright 39,772
Dsindy 99,498
Dfunks222 71,142
Kuroshi 43,442
We lost two players in one hand to kick off eliminations. First, Kuroshi was down to 3,716 during Razz and was all-in for a completion. DRSICK then put in most of his stack with a 2 after he and demetrius capped the betting on 3rd. Showing A-2 on 4th, DRSICK bet out and demetrius raised with A-8 to put him all-in. DRSICK made the call and showed 7-6-2-A. Demetrius showed 8-4-3-A and Kuroshi held 10-4-3-2. DRSICK couldn’t catch anything lower than a nine for the remainder of his hand to finish with a nine. Kuroshi double paired before catching a ten on the river. Demetrius caught a seven on sixth street to make an eight and knocked out Kuroshi in 8th place and DRSICK in 7th place.
The very next hand, muckyourface put in his last 15,380 in 3rd street with 7-2-A after he and dboy23 got into a raising war. Dboy23 held 8-5-A and they were off to the races. On sixth, dboy23 had a J-8 low to lead the J-10 low of muck your face, but muckyourface had an outdraw chance. He hit his chance when an eight hit the river to give him a 10-8 low. Unfortunately, dboy23 also hit when a nine on the river gave him a 9-8. As such, muckyourface was out in 6th place.
Dfunks222 had his remaining 13k in on third street of stud against both demetrius and dboy23. Dboy23 bet out demetrius on 5th and turned over split aces. Dfunks222 held just split kings and needed help. Dfunks222 would not receive help and dboy23 made aces-up by the river. Dfunks222 made another strong run in this event, this time finishing in 5th place.
Play then continued four-handed for quite a while. Amazingly, no deal was brokered and dboy23 proceeded to build a monster chip lead. During Texas Holdem, dsindy was down to 3,898, which happened to be less than half the big blind. He moved all-in and dboy23 and patwright saw a flop. They both checked the flop of Ac-7s-10 and the turn 2h. On the river Ks, dboy23 bet out and patwright folded. Dboy23 showed Qs-Jh for broadway and dsindy was out in 4th.
The very next hand, demetrius and dboy23 capped the betting pre-flop. This resulted in demetrius being all-in with As-4c against the Qs-7c of dboy23. A queen on the flop left demetrius needing an ace to win. An ace never came and we were heads-up.
Dboy23 started heads-up play with over a 7 to 1 chip lead with 381,678 against the 59,322 of patwright. Patwright would get a full double up to 118k, but that is as far as he would get. The final hand came in Omaha. Patwright raised to 20k and dboy23 made the call pre-flop and both saw a flop of Ks-8c-6h. Dboy23 checked to patwright, who bet out. Dboy23 then check-raised to 20k, and patwright made the call all-in for his last 8,644. Dboy23 held Kc-10d-4h-d for top pair and a low draw. Patwright held As-Qd-8d-5c for middle pair and weaker low draw. The turn 9d gave patwright outs for a straight, but the river Kd gave dboy23 trip kings and the victory.
Dboy23 wins his first Sunday Night H.O.R.S.E. title and $9,000 in prize money. Instead of making a deal as many tend to, he chose instead to grind a huge chip lead and pick off his final three players when they were vulnerable. Congratulations.
