Poker Make-Up

In the world of poker staking “make-up” is a term used when referring to repayment of poker losses by the staked player. For example, let’s say you are a backed player and your backer has put you into $20,000 worth of events. In order to receive your share of profits from your backer, you must pay back the $20,000 already spent on you. If you make $35,000 and owe $20,000, you will only receive a portion of $15,000.

Make-up can put some players into serious debt if they go on a bad streak. However, if you are considering backing a player, you definitely want some type of make-up arrangement in your deal.
