Dustin Woolf

Neverwin

Dustin Woolf “Neverwin” is one in a long line of successful No-Limit Holdem players that got their start primarily online. He started off playing high limit NL Holdem on PokerStars back when the site first opened. Woolf tends to primarily focus on cash game play as opposed to tournaments, but he is still a very strong tournament poker player. Most of his significant tournament success has occurred at the World Series of Poker.

Since 2005, Woolf has cashed in a total of 15 WSOP events. His breakthrough year was in 2005 when he made the final tables of both the $2,000 No Limit Holdem Event and the $5,000 NL event. He finished 4th in the $2,000 event for $138,075. He would then go on to make a super deep run in the Main Event. He finished 32nd in a field of 5619 to take home $274,090.

In 2006, Woolf would cash three times at the WSOP, including an 8th place finish in the NL Holdem Shootout event. He would move on to finish in the money in four events in both the 2007 and 2008 WSOP. His cashes have included every form of NL Holdem played at the series to include six handed and heads-up events.

Woolf also seems adept at heads-up holdem play as he finished 5th in the 2007 Heads-Up Championships in Compton Ca. This event was a true test of heads-up prowess as nearly every player at the event was a top named pro that received an invitation. A couple of spots were awarded to satellite winner, but there were no “celebrity” players or players that did not deserve to be there unlike certain heads-up championships.

Outside of poker, Woolf helps to run the site NeverWinPoker.com. He is also a regular contributor to the blogs on the site. He is joined on the site by Bryan Micon and Todd Witteles. The site provides commentary, forums, and other industry related news and commentary. They even host a radio program from the site.

Outside of the WSOP, Woolf plays a somewhat limited tournament schedule, preferring the cash games to that of the tournament circuit. Woolf sparked controversy in 2007 when he was banned from the site for multi-accounting. The difference between Woolf’s ban and that of Justin Bonomo was that Woolf was not playing multiple accounts at one time. What he was banned for was playing on different accounts to shield his identity. His primary account and any account that PokerStars suspected of him playing on was banned. Eventually, PokerStars would lift the ban and Woolf would return to play at the site. He would event take down the 2008 Pokerstars World Championship of Battleship Poker.

Dustin Woolf is a strong force in both the cash game world and in the tournament circuit. With Millions won online and over $800,000 won live, he has established himself as a solid multi-faceted player. Do not let the moniker of “NeverWin” fool you. He is a dangerous player at the table that “often wins.”
